Learn how to teach 21st Century health and safety critical thinking skills using fun, participatory activities, with the Youth @ Work: Talking Safety curriculum available from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This year's curriculum will include new activities for teachers to comply with the new AB800, which requires school districts teach students about workplace health and safety.
Learn about tools to teach students about safety and health responsibilities in the workplace.
Safety in the Workplace needs to be addressed by all work-based learning programs including CTE pathway courses. The State Superintendent’s Career Ready Initiative, the Anchor Standards in the California CTE Model Curriculum Standards, and the Eleven Elements of High-Quality Work-Based Learning
(AB2211) all direct teachers to cover this topic.
The training will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM. A one-hour lunch break will be provided for participants to grab lunch on their own, with many dining options available nearby. Morning refreshments will be provided.
